What is heli-skiing really like? P.O.V. footage and great editing!

My friends Phil, Joe, Mike and Ricky went on a little heli-ski vacation this past winter, and shot their adventures on two HD camcorders, one of which was helmet-mounted. Wow, a helmet cam in Western Canada’s waist-deep pow, can’t get any better than that! Great job on the video, Little Dog!!

Google Maps Street View car caught in the wild in Montreal!!

Great news!! Montreal’s Plateau area will be included in Google’s Street View!! I spotted the car in the wild, on Duluth and Hotel-De-Ville, not too far from the NorthGeek headquarters… Unfortunately, the car was parked and the camera was covered, so I will not be in Street View. I know you were all wanting that pretty badly. So was I.

Home Theater: What can $6 million buy you?

To take an opening line from the original author of this post, when it comes to home theaters, I thought I had seen it all. Well, all that was worthy of my critical (yet practical – see: ‘egzak’) eyes… But this, well, THIS, I had never seen until early 2008. Yeah yeah, I know the date because the article is from February 2008 – whatever!

The giant Stewart Snowmatte screen isn’t all that’s impressive! There’s also the Sony ultra-high-resolution (4,096-by-2,160) SRX-S110 digital projector – this bad boy is on my “Need/Want” list, too! Just not sure if it’s a “need” or a “want” yet… Outfitted primarily with Snell speakers, Jeremy Kipnis’ $6 million home theater setup is an 8.8 system – that’s right, 8 speakers and 8 subwoofers. Although there are really more than 8 speakers. He has THREE center speakers, as he felt that just the one center was being too overpowered by the eight Snell THX Cinema & Music Reference towers he has surrounding the room.

This beast of a “home” theater is powered by two humongous General Electric 13,800-volt/800-amp step-down transformers next to Kipnis’ garage.

Amplified by two Mark Levinson N° 33h Amplifiers, thirty (yes, that is 30) McIntosh MC-2102 Amplifiers, and three Crown Macro Reference Gold Amplifiers, 13 Theta Digital Generation VIII 32-bit 8x Oversampling Dual Processors run the show.

This is one of the coolest and most original things I’ve seen in a while. At least i think it’s original! I haven’t seen anyone else do this. My apologies to Beardyman, as this post is really about Nathan Lee and his awesomely cool beatboxing with a flute!! Beardyman, you’re pretty awesome, too. This guy‘s not bad, either…

When I first came across the great T-Mobile dance video, I thought to myself, “whoever is behind this campaign is a genius”. But I didn’t even know about this video!! Check it out, same idea, same shock value, same fun and engaging style. Enjoy!

Have you seen the new T-Mobile "Life’s for Sharing" ad?

This is just a great (full-length) ad for T-Mobile. I’m guessing this is for T-Mobile UK, but that is based solely on the British accent at the beginning of the video. I could be wrong… Wherever it’s from, it’s great! I would have been pretty pissed if I didn’t have a camera-enabled mobile with me that day!!
